Dr. Bruce Langlois has been the owner and Medical Director of the Animal Hospital of Lowell since he purchased it in 1984. He received his Bachelors of Science degree in Dairy Science at Michigan State University in 1980, and continued his studies there to complete his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1984. He is very active in the veterinary community and is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association, the Veterinary Oncology Society, the West Michigan Veterinary Medical Association (past president) and the Michigan Veterinary Reserve Corps. Dr. Langlois enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and is a very skilled surgeon. He prides himself in offering advanced diagnostics and treatments, while still providing personalized, comprehensive care for his patients and clients.

Dr. Langlois’ commitment to the health and welfare of animals extends beyond the care of his valued patients that he sees at the hospital. Since 2000 he has been the Veterinary Director for Remote Area Medical, a non-profit organization that provides free medical services to disadvantaged people and animals in the United States and globally. He donates his services and medical supplies, and has led various expeditions to Africa, South and Central America, Lebanon and the Caribbean, as well as to communities in need here in the United States. He is passionate about his mission to reduce the population of unwanted companion animals, and has championed several efforts to help achieve this goal. For example, he offers spay/neuter surgeries at the clinic for low-income families, operates a mobile veterinary clinic to provide spay/neuter services to neighboring communities in Michigan, and works with many local humane organizations and rescue groups to help ensure that there are fewer unwanted dogs and cats, and the ones that are available for adoption are healthy.

Dr. Langlois is a native of Michigan and lives in Lowell with his wife, four children, and their entourage of pets including dogs, cats, horses, sheep and cattle. In his free time, he is an avid runner and has competed in numerous marathons. He also enjoys reading, hiking and travel and is always game to take on a new challenge or adventure!
